The Detroit Lions played (and lost) their first preseason football game Friday night.
There are back to school advertisements all over TV.
My dahlia’s are beginning to bloom.

Last week the ornamental grass pushed their blossoms upward toward the August sun.

This morning I saw a school bus traveling our country roads.
Fall is creeping up on us.
I don’t like it, but I can’t stop it.

About Dawn King
I'm a long time banker, having started in the business at sixteen as a co-op student filing checks in a bank bookkeeping department after school. After 26 years in banking I made a scary decision and went back to grad school to become a librarian. Now that I've graduated and worked at a library for a time I'm facing unemployment again; economic times have created shortages in most of the communities near me. Some people say life is a circle; maybe mine is. I'm headed back to the bank to work. With a fresh perspective on all things financial.
You dahlia is awesome! I just the red, it’s like fire!
I do admire you that you have autumn; we have nothing but summer : (
Shhhhhhhhh! If we don’t talk about it, maybe it won’t happen.
Your signs of fall are beautiful. If only fall wasn’t followed by winter, because I really do like fall. I just don’t care for what follows.
We can’t stop it indeed. It’s cruising toward autumn and you’ve taken such beautiful photos to show us.
Let’s enjoy the ride, Dawn…
Don’t want to (she says with bottom lip stuck out in difiance.) Don’t want to at all!
After all the heat we have been having and no rain – we would welcome a cool down!
Love fall..my favorite season. I’m not crazy about the start of school…however today when I left Cole (16 years old), Rascal (Jack Russell) and a green marker in the car together and forgot to say…”Cole please don’t color on the dog while I’m gone” and came back to a poor Rascal with green racing stripes down her side I yelled to the heavens…RING THAT SCHOOL BELL!
The dahlia are so pretty. Love that red color.
Shocking, isn’t it? I want summer to last forever!
Would you want to stop it if you could?
The older I get, the faster time flies. And this summer seemed to go at warp speed. Man, I’m getting really old.
I am happy to have the seasons turning in their own sweet time, because I would be paralyzed by ambivalence if I were in charge. Longer summer, longer business season, better hedge against winter! vs. time to slow down, time to breathe, a chance to get away for a few days of vacation. Back and forth I would go, unable to decide. So what will be will be, and I will make the most of it.
Yep and I started back to work yesterday. Fall is coming.
I agree! I am soooooooo not ready for summer to be over. School starts next week, and although that is not the official end of the season, it might as well be for me. There’s plenty to like about fall, I suppose ( such as it is not winter), but summer has my heart, and it is beginning to break until next year.
I agree totally Karma…heart is breaking here too.
