The things you learn when you drop a 9×13 Pyrex baking pan on a tile floor.
1. That you can move really really fast while scooping up Sheltie dog to get her away from the shattered glass.
2. That the glass goes everywhere…and a long way.
3. That the shapes of the broken glass are sort of interesting; pretty in a sad and dangerous way.
4. That those little flecks of light on the floor aren’t droplets of water.
4. That you have to vacuum a whole lot before you don’t hear any bits of glass being pulled up the tube anymore. And that you will continue to vacuum long after just to be sure. Cause you’ve got little Sheltie feet to consider.
5. That your floor was disgustingly dirty. You just hadn’t realized it prior to today’s close inspection.
I hate glass things. My duagher broke her large fish bowel in the kitchen the other day. I thougth I had gotten all the glass. A few days later, I found a small piece on the counter when I was cleaning. Ugh! I hope you got it all. Diana
Ooops! Yep, glass is a major pain to clean up. Hope you did get it all and glad you grabbed Katie and got her out of the way safely.
Glass is the worst. But hey, you’ve got a nice clean floor now! Maybe you should have a picnic dinner…in the kitchen.
It is always amazing how far it goes. I dropped a glass vase some months back and then found a small piece way over in the dining room. I had the same instinct too – grab he sheltie and get his feet off the the floor. A quick wet mop of the floor also helps, glass shines more when it is wet so lets you see it better.
Broken glass is such a pain! Especially when you have dogs. They seem to have a talent for finding every stray piece.
Ditto on life lessons on how far shattered glass flies. Every time I think I have cleaned up even places where I can’t imagine that it has gone, and then it turns out that even my can’t-imagine didn’t can’t-imagine far enough (as others have noted).
You learned an awful lot from breaking that baking pan!
I love that you even paused to look at the magnificent shapes that were created…and took photos!
(But yes, such a pain. I am glad you paused to realize the “gifts” of the life lessons.)
